On Sunday, August 9, 2026, a team of eight Terrapins took part in the Half‑Marathon des Vignobles in Saint‑Paul‑d’Abbotsford: seven as volunteers, and one Terrapine as a brave half‑marathon participant.
Our volunteers were assigned to Aid Station #5, a beautiful spot near Verger Thomson at the foot of Mont Yamaska. The scenery was so charming that a few runners nearly forgot they were racing.
This station was highly strategic: every participant in the 5 km, 10 km, and 21.1 km passed through — some of them twice. Energy, enthusiasm, and fast hands were essential. The words “ELECTROLYTES!” and “DELO!” were shouted so often that they may echo in a few Terrapin memories for weeks. Some volunteers even lost their voices — undeniable proof of Terrapin dedication.
The highlight of the day came when our Terrapine runner reached the station at the 19th km of her half‑marathon. The moment she appeared, the noise level jumped instantly: it felt like a rock star on tour, but in running shoes. The encouragement worked — she achieved one of her best half‑marathon times. Bravo, Andréanne!
Overall, it was a fantastic first volunteer experience for the Terrapins — one we will certainly repeat in future years.
