The Terrapins Sizzle in Granby!

Sunday, October 5, 2025, six determined Terrapins took on the Granby marathon and half-marathon… only to discover that autumn had taken the day off. With 19°C at the start and nearly 30°C by the finish, the race turned into a full-blown solar endurance test. Some might call it a marathon — we called it a slow roast.

But true to form, every Terrapin crossed the finish line, united, resilient, and slightly melted (from heat and pride).

Terrapin Highlights from the course:

•     Lisa, running her first-ever marathon, delivered the group’s top performance — finishing under 5 hours. Quiet strength, steady pace, and a rocket-fueled debut.

•     Andre, a seasoned marathoner, completed his 24th marathon in pain but with heart. He was the last to finish, but the entire team waited for him — a signature Terrapin move: no one finishes a race alone, not even a 42.2 km scorcher.

•     Gilles, our 72-year-old vice-dean and captain, completed his third half-marathon of the season. Not bad for someone who makes endurance look easy.

•     Andreanne ran a strong half and shared a beautiful mother-daughter finish with Naomi — their first race together, and hopefully not the last!

•     Silke and Sylvain, both delivered solid performances despite the tropical conditions. Sylvain added yet another race to his ever-growing collection (we stopped counting at 50…). Silke was on her second half-marathon, which officially makes her a veteran in addition to leading the medical team to the arrival of some Terrapins in heat!

And as always…

The traditional team photo captured smiles, medals, and a few salt-streaked cheeks. A lasting memory of a day when the heat couldn’t outshine the Terrapin spirit.
