A Terrapine at the Summit of the Puy de Dôme

Unable to endure any longer Sutton’s winter that stubbornly refuses to pack its bags,  one Terrapine chose the best possible strategy: escape by going upward. Destination: the Puy de Dôme, an iconic (and thankfully dormant) volcano in the Chaîne des Puys near Clermont‑Ferrand in Auvergne.

Rising to 1,465 metres, this Grand Site de France, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers a 360° panorama over more than 80 volcanoes. Not bad at all. It’s also a favourite playground for paragliders… and now, for at least one Terrapine on a climate‑driven getaway.

We envy you, Claudine — while the rest of us are still running around in our spikes.
