Under a sometimes-generous rainfall, the Terrapins were genuinely like turtles in water during the 2026 edition of the Tour du Lac Brome, held in the charming village of Knowlton on Sunday, June 14. With two Terrapins registered for the 10 km and six for the half‑marathon, the tribe cheerfully took over the courses winding around the lake.
Terrapin Highlights.
10 km Race:
Claudine and Anne‑Sophie, after a short bus ride to reach the starting line, both delivered strong performances and quickly made their way back to their point of origin — which had magically transformed into their finish line. Still following?
Half‑Marathon:
- Titouan, our honorary Terrapin of the day (and Claudine’s son), proved that age is no barrier to shining, he completed the distance in under 105 minutes. Youth is a beautiful thing… especially when it runs fast.
- Lyne, a part‑time Terrapin whose work shifts at the Sutton gym seem, by some cosmic mystery, fall exactly at the same time as the Terrapins’ group runs, completed her very first half‑marathon with flair. An even more impressive feat considering she rarely gets the chance to train with the group. Bravo to Lyne, who proves that you can run 21.1 km with determination… even if you miss the official team picture.
- Lisa is now officially a veteran of the semi‑mythical distance, having completed her second half‑marathon. As a bonus, she earned herself a personal best. Kudos!
- Silke, already a veteran with her third half‑marathon, bravely took on the race without having fully recovered from a nasty virus. Double Kudos!
- Gilles, our vice‑dean and captain, added yet another half‑marathon to his résumé, despite one knee in a brace and the other decorated with a mysterious blue tape. That’s the Terrapin spirit: keep moving, no matter where the tape is.
- André, for his part, attempted to turn the clock back a good ten years by aiming for a sub‑two‑hour finish. He missed the mark by just a few seconds — the kind of seconds invented solely to annoy runners. But he was still happy to be able to race in a field younger than him!
And Finally…
A big thank‑you to Gilles and Ulrich, our drivers for the day. Ulrich, Silke’s dedicated partner, embodied Terrapin resilience by standing in the rain for hours to cheer and photograph everyone at the finish line. Thank you, Ulrich — you almost deserve a medal… or at the very least an official Terrapin umbrella.
